A COUNCILLOR who attended a virtual meeting while driving a lorry has resigned — but claimed being online was no different to ‘twiddling with radios’.
David Brown, from Boston borough council, appeared on Zoom wearing a seatbelt — with views of a changing landscape.
He later said he pulled over to dial in to the talks, but drove when he was ‘just listening’.
He said: ‘What’s the difference between listening to that and your car radio? People twiddle with car radios and what have you, what’s the difference?
‘I have resigned from my cabinet post, as that’s what the leader wanted me to do.’
After the footage was shared on YouTube, James Collins posted: ‘Shows most politicians are braindead and stupid — that nobody had the tenacity or balls to call this have-a-go out.’ User Mark Mark added: ‘Complete disgrace. These people are supposed to lead by example.’
