THE football supporter rescued by a personal trainer in London is a former police officer who was attacked after shouting ‘F*** Black Lives Matter’, it was claimed yesterday.
Bryn Male, 55, met friends in Parliament Square, Westminster, on Saturday to help ‘protect’ Winston Churchill’s statue after being ‘incensed’ by the graffiti attack on it the previous weekend.
However, the former detective constable, who retired in 2014 after 20 years with the British Transport Police, ‘got stinking drunk’ and provoked his attackers. In a now iconic photo, the Tesco delivery driver is seen being rescued from an angry mob by fitness instructor and BLM supporter Patrick Hutchinson, who picked him up and carried him over his shoulder.
Yesterday, a friend of Mr Male, from Basingstoke, Hampshire, said: ‘He went to London and met some of his Millwall mates and got on the drink. When he got home with a shiner on Saturday night his wife was livid.’
