A ROYAL NAVY engineer made it a doubly ‘special’ day when he was made an MBE by Prince William at Buckingham Palace — and then proposed to his partner in the quadrangle outside.
Matthew Gallimore, 35, got down on one knee after being honoured for his services to the military and Adele Thomasson, 36, said ‘yes’.
He said: ‘I rang up the palace and said, “Can I do it inside?” and they said, “No, you have to do it outside”.
‘They said, “At the end of the day it’s the Queen’s house, so the last thing you want to do is annoy the Queen”. And that’s the last thing I want!’
Afterwards, the couple, from Crewe, celebrated with drinks at The Ritz hotel.
