A MILKMAN brought a drink-driver to justice by forcing him on to a verge and blocking him in with his float — in the latest of his crime-fighting escapades.

Tony Fowler, who calls himself the fourth emergency service for his customers, has also foiled dozens of burglaries, caught fly-tippers, saved the life of one client he found collapsed, and rescued another from a fire.

The 61-year-old, who has been awarded the MBE for services to the community, said he was ‘really pleased’ to have stopped the drink-driver, who ran off but was grabbed by police in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

He said: ‘There could have been kids and families around and he could have hit them. Sometimes danger is everywhere, especially since I’m working nights.

‘My job’s to deliver the milk, but I don’t walk away from anything I know is wrong.’
