What a tonic! Gin glass is inscribed with driver’s note

En-grave mistake: Boyfriend had written instructions in wrong box PICTURE: SWNS

DOTING Daniel Varey thought the inscription details for his girlfriend’s birthday gin glass were crystal clear.

‘Happy 30th birthday princess, love you millions,’ he requested on the order.

But an online mix-up — with Daniel writing the inscription and delivery instructions in the wrong boxes — left Hayley Woodward toasting her big day with the message: ‘Can we have it delivered before Monday if possible as that’s her 30th. Nice one.’

Daniel, 28, said: ‘I had a feeling that I did something wrong because I’m so dopey and I literally rushed the order as Hayley was sat next to me so I had to do it secretly. I gave it to her and she burst out crying with laughter. I was mortified!’

Luckily for Daniel, from Denton, Manchester, Hayley is more than happy with the gift.

‘The glass is perfect — absolutely hilarious,’ she said. ‘It cheered me up about having a birthday in lockdown.’
