WATFORD were without Andre Gray, Nathaniel Chalobah and Domingos Quina for yesterday’s defeat by Southampton amid claims Gray had held a party for 20 people on Friday.
The Hornets said the trio were omitted ‘to ensure the health and safety of all players, staff and officials’ as they lost 3-1.
Defeat left Watford only a point above the relegation zone and manager Nigel Pearson said: ‘You can’t concede goals like we have, give gifts to the opponents.
‘We have to go back to showing a cohesion as a group of people.
‘It is about us approaching games with the positive intent, with the positive mindset. We are fighting for our lives.’
