A JILTED boyfriend who researched revenge killings online before stabbing his ex and her new partner to death was jailed for life yesterday.
Andrew Saunders will serve at least 23 years after he was sentenced for the ‘savage and senseless’ attack on Zoe Morgan, 21, and Lee Simmons, 33, as they arrived for work at a Matalan store in Cardiff in September.
The 21-year-old, who had briefly dated window dresser Ms Morgan, stabbed the pair eight times before returning home to Newport where he was arrested. One of his last web searches had been ‘how to slice a neck’, Cardiff crown court heard.
In jailing him, Judge Nicola Davies said: ‘You took the lives of two people in a savage and senseless attack.
‘The effect on each family has been devastating.’
Afterwards, Ms Morgan’s family said their ‘beautiful intelligent girl’ would be missed for the rest of their lives.
While relatives of Mr Simmons said no punishment ‘will ever compensate for the loss of Lee’s life’.
Det Insp Mark O’Shea described Saunders, who admitted double murder, as ‘a truly despicable man’.
