TWO overseas lorry drivers were caught within an hour of each other using their laptops behind the wheel.
The first offender in a left-hand drive vehicle was spotted travelling towards the coast on the M2 in Kent at about 1.15pm on Tuesday and the second at 1.50pm.
Kent Roads Policing Unit tweeted: ‘HGV1 stopped for using his laptop whilst driving. Not only dangerous for not paying attention where he was pointing his 40 ton artic but just look at vision out the window.’
After stopping the second driver they said: ‘Straight back out on the road to find another HGV1 driver doing exactly the same thing. Unbelievable.’ Both drivers were fined £200 and given six penalty points.
Nick Lloyd, from road safety charity Brake, said: ‘Even a momentary lack of focus can be fatal. We would urge drivers to keep their eyes on the road, hands on the wheel and distractions such as laptops or mobile phones out of reach.’
