AN UBER driver was shocked to find he had an extra passenger — when Lara Cameron-Cole gave birth in his cab.
Baby Florance arrived five days early as 38-year-old Lara was being taken to hospital after going into labour. Hus-band Eniola, 38, called an Uber to their home in New Cross, south-east London, and they bundled into driver Sherif Cacaj’s Skoda Octavia.
Minutes later, Lara gave birth to their daughter, who weighed 6lb 8oz.
Mr Cacaj, 55, put his foot down to make it to St Thomas’ Hospital where medics were waiting.
Lara, an interior designer, said: ‘I’m already a mum-of-two so I thought I knew what to expect, but it was so quick.
‘The poor Uber driver didn’t know where to look and was trying to get there as quickly as possible without breaking the law.’
Mr Cacaj, an Uber driver for six months, said: ‘The lady said, “it’s coming, it’s coming” and the next thing she said, “the baby is out” and it was crying.’ The couple gave him a big tip.
