DONALD TRUMP must hand over eight years of his tax returns to New York prosecutors, a US appeals court ruled yesterday.
But the US president vowed to appeal the decision, taking the debate to the supreme court.
Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance Jr sought the records in a probe that includes payments made to buy the silence of two women, porn star Stormy Daniels and model Karen McDougal, who claim they had affairs with Mr Trump before the 2016 presidential election. He has denied the claims.
Lawyers for Mr Trump (pictured) told the three-judge appeals panel that, as president, he would be immune from state law even if he shot someone.
Mr Vance’s investigation comes as the president faces impeachment hearings initiated by Democrats after he tried to get Ukraine’s leader to investigate his political rival Joe Biden.
