DONALD TRUMP has said he would give himself an A+ for effort but only a C+ for getting his message across since becoming US president.
He made the comments after being asked to evaluate his first month in charge during a TV interview.
The tycoon, who has attacked the media for its coverage of him, said: ‘I think in terms of effort, which means something, I give myself an A+ for effort. But results are more important.
‘In terms of messaging, I would give myself a C or a C+.
‘In terms of achievement I think I would give myself an A because I think I’ve done great things but I think I — and my people — have not explained it well enough to the American public.’
Mr Trump also used the Fox News interview to repeat his claim that former president Barack Obama was ‘behind’ some of the protests against his presidency.
He said his predecessor’s ‘people’ may be responsible for some White House leaks to the media.
He added: ‘I think he is behind it but I also think it’s politics. It will probably continue.’ It came as Mr Trump prepared to make his first speech to both houses of Congress last night.
His aides said the address would be ‘optimistic’ in tone and focus on ‘the renewal of the American spirit’.
