WANT to know how to get to Sesame Street? You don’t have to cross the Pond to rub shoulders with Big Bird and the gang — all that’s required is a short hop over to north-east Spain.
That’s how my three-year-old and I came to be immersed in SésamoAventura, a colourful world inspired by the classic children’s TV show and packed full of attractions geared towards younger members of the family.
This year, new interactive adventure Street Mission has taken things to the next level by harnessing 3D video-mapping technology and animatronics to create an enthralling experience. My little girl loved it — and so did I.
SésamoAventura is just one part of PortAventura World, a huge leisure resort that includes a sprawling theme park with rides to satisfy most adventurers, a huge water park, the Formula One-themed Ferrari Land and a host of hotels.
It took us three days to see everything — perfect for a long weekend while allowing enough downtime to rest weary little legs. And it only takes an hour to reach the resort by car from Barcelona’s El Prat airport. Sun, sangria and Sesame Street — what’s not to love?
