Tottenham’s fitness woes finally start to ease ahead of Manchester United clash

TOTTENHAM’S Moussa Sissoko and Ben Davies have returned to first-team training but they are unlikely be ready to face Manchester United on Sunday.

It is a welcome boost for Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, who has had to contend with a significant injury list since taking over in November.

Sissoko injured his knee during the New Year’s Day defeat to Southampton — the same match in which Harry Kane ruptured a hamstring tendon.

Last month Mourinho revealed his hope the France midfielder would return in April, but he could be back even earlier.

‘Moussa Sissoko and Ben Davies have commenced integration into first-team training,’ a statement on the club’s official website read.

Davies has also endured an injury-hit campaign, suffering an ankle problem in Mourinho’s first game as Tottenham boss, a 3-2 win at West Ham in November.

He returned for the victory at Aston Villa last month before he was ruled out with a hamstring injury, which saw the Wales international miss Spurs’ last three games.

The duo are not expected to feature at home to United, but could be back in contention soon while Davinson Sanchez was also training yesterday after missing Tuesday’s defeat to RB Leipzig with a minor knock.
