SHE is famed for her cheeky grin — and Princess Charlotte managed to summon her bravest smile for her first day at school yesterday.
The four-year-old looked hesitant as she was led into the grounds of Thomas’s Battersea — twirling her hair, flicking her ponytail and at one stage hiding behind her mum the Duchess of Cambridge’s skirt.
But she beamed as she shook hands with lower school head Helen Haslem.
Looking on, her proud dad William smiled and said: ‘First day. She’s very excited.’
While Charlotte stayed close to Kate, big brother Prince George, six, held William’s hand as they walked through the playground at the fee-paying independent school in south London.
The family’s appearance yesterday — minus one-year-old Prince Louis — thrilled royal watchers.
Kate looked chic with flicked-back, blow-dried hair and wearing a £215 Michael Kors dress, first seen last year at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding rehearsal.
And Charlotte became the hottest topic on Twitter as delighted fans pointed out her similarity to her great-grandmother.
Images of the Queen at the same age show the pair share similar eyes, nose, cheeks and mouth — though Her Majesty had curls.
