Toddlers die as monsoon hits Mumbai

TWO toddlers were among at least six people who died after floods caused by monsoon rains destroyed homes in Mumbai, India.

Police said a 45-year-old woman and an 18-month-old child, members of the same family, died after their home crumbled late on Tuesday. A two-year-old girl died in a wall collapse.

Hundreds walked to work after nearly a month’s rainfall in a single day brought traffic chaos to the city of 20million people.

In neighbouring Thane, three people died after being swept away by floods.
