They flipped over Down Under… but got out alive

It’s a close call:

in the desert PIC: CATERS

TWO British backpackers feared they would die when their car overturned in the Australian outback — leaving them badly hurt and trapped in the desert heat.

Gap year pals Brad Warren and Oliver Walker were thrown from the Toyota RAV4 when it skidded on the 380-mile Oodnadatta Track in South Australia.

‘We started rolling and I thought “you’re dying”, said driver Brad, 21, of Somerset. ‘Next thing, I was crawling from the wreckage to find Ollie bloody and unconscious. Then he let out a groan.’

Ollie, 22, from Hampshire, had fractured ribs and a punctured lung but helped Brad — half-blind with a scratched eye — to put up a tent. Hours later, a couple stopped to help. They had a satellite phone and the pals were airlifted to hospital in Adelaide. ‘They saved our lives,’ said Brad, who added the pair plan to continue travelling.
