A FORMER teacher has been spared a retrial over claims she had sex with a student in a plane toilet as they flew home from a school trip.
Eleanor Watson (pictured) was released on unconditional bail after a jury failed to reach a verdict last week.
Prosecutors yesterday revealed they will not be asking for a fresh trial.
Ms Wilson was accused of having drink-fuelled sex with the boy, then 16, on a British Airways flight home from a camping trip in August 2015 when she was 26.
He claimed they kissed before she beckoned him into the toilet. But she said he had imagined it, also denying they had kissed on three other occasions.
Bristol crown court heard she sent him hundreds of texts but she said they were friends and she had no one else to confide in. The jury, after deliberating for ten-and-a-half hours, said there was no ‘realistic prospect’ of reaching majority verdicts on any of the four counts Ms Wilson faced of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust.
Wilson, 29, from Dursley, Gloucestershire, was banned indefinitely from the classroom in July last year following a report by the National College for Teaching and Leadership. Now a Ministry of Defence civil servant and a Royal Navy Reservist, she is reportedly in a relationship with Josh Hawkins, 27.
