ZARA LARSSON wishes men were better at picking up on signals when women are not interested in talking to them.
The 22-year-old pop babe is back with a new single, called Like It Is, with fellow Swede Kygo and US rapper Tyga.
And the song is all about being pestered by men during a night out.
‘It’s annoying when you’re out and you have annoying guys around you, and you want to say “Go away! Bye!”’ Zara told Guilty Pleasures.
‘Girls are good at hints. We don’t have to say much. We just pick up on a vibe. But a lot of guys — how can you not? I have been so straightforward with not being interested. And so many guys just still don’t get it.’ The video for Like It Is sees Zara opening a lonely hearts club for people suffering after a break-up — and she has sage advice for anyone dealing with the end of a romance.
‘I had one heartbreak that was hard,’ she admitted. ‘I used to hold my hand under my heart to know I still had a heartbeat and was still alive.
‘You just have to hang out with friends, cry, listen to sad music or make up scenarios where you beat him up in your head. Whatever you need to do.
‘Or maybe f*** around? I think that helps.’
After splitting from British model Brian Whittaker last August, Zara is happy to be single. ‘I’m young and single,’ she said. ‘I’m just having fun.’
Like It Is by Kygo feat Zara Larsson + Tyga is out tomorrow.
