Suspect in triple murder spits at gallery in court

Inquiry: Police at the scene

A MURDER suspect has appeared in court charged with the fatal stabbings of three men, two of them brothers.

Tom Saunders, 32, spat towards the public gallery from behind reinforced glass as he appeared before Colchester magistrates yesterday.

He is charged with the murders of Danny Gibson, 35, and his brother Jason Gibson, 31, who were found dead at a house in the town on Saturday.

He is also charged with murdering Richard Booth, 35, who was found in a car outside the house. He spoke only to confirm his name and address.

Saunders, from Colchester, is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He was not asked for pleas and no application for bail was made.

He was remanded to appear before Chelmsford crown court today.

Police said they are treating the incident as ‘targeted and isolated’.
