Summit else to watch on telly in North Korea

Out of sight: Footage of handshake was shown worldwide, but not in North Korea

AS MILLIONS of TV viewers around the world watched coverage of the summit, North Koreans back home were treated to something rather different.

Korea Central Television broadcast an opera about miners and a show about pig farming, reports BBC Monitoring. Northern Korean TV news reported Kim Jong-un’s visit to Singapore but images of his handshake with Mr Trump were not shown. Pyongyang usually reports his trips when he returns home.

(Pork) chopped: Instead of summit, TV in Pyongyang carried show about pig farms

But newspaper Rodong Sinmun did feature front page pictures of his night out in Singapore — a story which Metro also reported (albeit in a different way).
