Statue of famous WWII kiss vandalised with #MeToo

A VANDAL has sprayed #MeToo on the leg of a statue depicting a sailor kissing a dental assistant at the end of World War II.

Police officers found the graffiti on the left leg of the woman in the Unconditional Surrender statue in Sarasota, Florida.

The damage (pictured) has been estimated at more than $1,000 (£765).

George Mendonsa, the sailor famously photographed kissing Greta Zimmer Friedman in New York’s Times Square on VJ Day in 1945, died on Sunday at the age of 95.
