REMAINER MP Anna Soubry wears ‘bovver boots’ to run away in and steers clear of platform edges in case she is shoved on to the tracks by angry Brexiteers, she has revealed.
The politician, who has campaigned for a second referendum, is at the centre of a storm over MPs’ safety after she was mobbed by far-right protesters who called her a Nazi and tried to stop her entering parliament.
She compared them to terrorists yesterday and said she felt ‘rattled’ when she finally escaped. ‘When I am in London and take the Tube I always keep my back to the wall,’ she told The Times. ‘What part of Jo Cox do these people not understand?’ The Met police have now vowed to intervene after more than 160 MPs demanded greater protection following Ms Soubry’s experience.
Three men have been jailed for death threats against her since Labour’s Jo Cox was murdered by a far-right extremist in 2016.
Her 85-year-old mother has also been threatened, the MP said.
