IT WAS a rainswept summer solstice at Stonehenge ahead of the longest day of the year — but there’s the promise of lovely weather for the UK this week.

Dawn found a handful of the faithful sheltering from the drizzle as 3.6million livestreamed the Wiltshire celebration due to coronavirus restrictions.

Meanwhile, forecasters predict the UK could see temperatures surpassing the year’s highest of 28.2C, set on May 20 at Santon Downham, Suffolk. Emma Salter, of the Met Office, said: ‘Wednesday could be the hottest day so far, with temperatures of 30C in London.’
