NOW’S not the time to shop for non-essentials. Work is a concern, most of us must stay at home and, besides, places are closed.
However, if you’re still looking to spend, now is the time to use your money thoughtfully and support independent brands or those making a difference.
Hand-care brand Nursem was launched by ex-paediatric nurse Antonia Philp and it makes awesome creams to soothe over-washed, over-sanitised hands. Nursem is also giving away 10,000 products to nurses using the #handsupfornurses tag on social media — @nursemskincare.
For every person who buys a pair of its PJs, Poplin is donating a pair to someone you nominate who works in the NHS. Bodycare brand Haeckels, too, is sending treats to NHS workers nominated by their customers.
Elsewhere, perfumer Ormonde Jayne has made ‘thinking of you’ packages to send to the vulnerable or anyone self-isolating — and for each package the brand will donate £5 to the Royal Free Charity.
And jeweller Missoma will be donating 100 necklaces to NHS workers who are nominated on their Instagram page over the next 10 days. Purchasing power at its purest.
