Shark attack victim tried to swim to mum

Victim: Jordan Lindsey was attacked

A WOMAN mauled to death by sharks tried to swim to her mother after her arm was ripped off, but was stopped by a second predator attacking her leg.

Jordan Lindsey, 21, a student from California in the US, was snorkelling in a roped-off area of Rose Bay in the Bahamas when she was savaged in front of her mother, Kami.

Her father, Michael, told Good Morning America the family had made a last-minute trip during their holiday in June. Jordan and her mother went snorkelling and Michael and other family members went to pet pigs.

He said: ‘Kami said she heard Jordan yell, “Mom”, and then Kami looked back and her first thing was she thought dolphins were around Jordan.’

Mr Lindsey said Jordan had lost most of one arm but tried to reach her mum. ‘They’re swimming slowly and Jordan said, “Mom, there’s another shark coming”,’ he said. ‘The second shark hit again like on her lower leg and just took a giant chunk out of her and that’s the last thing Jordan said.’

Mr Lindsey said his wife pulled Jordan on to a rock and a boat fetched them. But he added: ‘They had no first aid kit — no basic supplies for any injury. A towel was used to cover Jordan’s legs.’
