A SAUDI woman being held in Bangkok yesterday claims she will be killed if sent back to her family.
Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun, 18, said she was trying to fly to Australia, via Thailand, to seek asylum when her passport was forcibly seized by Saudi officials at Suvarnabhumi airport. She is being held in an airport hotel and believes she will be punished if sent home, as she has renounced Islam.
She tweeted on Saturday: ‘I’m sure 100 percent [my family] will kill me as soon as I get out of the Saudi jail,’ adding that she was ‘scared’ and ‘losing hope’.
Thai officials said the situation is a family matter and that she will be deported today.
