A HUGE sinkhole has appeared on a beach after heavy rain caused the sand to collapse.
Emergency services were called after the 20ft-long by 8ft-deep hole opened up on Blyth beach, Northumberland, on Monday.
A team from the county council is now ‘working to divert the flow of the burn back to its natural course’.
Deborah Ellis, 57, was out with her terrier Macy when she saw the hole. ‘I walk my dog regularly around here and I have never seen it like this,’ she said.
‘It’s so deep you wouldn’t get your dog back out.’
