THE weird, wonderful and wild were on show at Royal Ascot as female racegoers put on a riotous hat display to mark Ladies’ Day.
Among the delights was a smiling trio rocking an African theme with headgear shaped like colourful urns.
And one woman took the English rose look to extremes, with a hat shaped like a huge flower perched on her head.
Other wacky headgear came in the form of a picnic hamper, complete with champagne and strawberries, and an aviary full of parakeets, owls and even a frog.
But it was the Queen’s more conservative number that had the punters purring.
Many had backed her to wear pink, leaving bookies paying out before the racing had begun.
