Rapist Harvey Weinstein ‘has fever’ in prison

HARVEY WEINSTEIN is unwell and being ‘closely monitored’ in prison, a representative for the disgraced Hollywood mogul has said.

The convicted rapist has a fever, the spokesperson said — but they could not ‘confirm nor deny’ he had tested positive for Covid-19.

Weinstein is serving a 23-year sentence in New York’s Wende Correctional Facility — where any inmate displaying coronavirus symptoms is immediately isolated and tested, the state’s department of corrections said.

The once-powerful film producer is considered vulnerable to the virus due to his age, weight and medical issues including a heart condition and high blood pressure.

The 68-year-old’s health was a focus at his trial, as he walked with the aid of a frame, and lawyers called his jail term ‘a de facto life sentence’. And after his February 24 conviction, he was sent to hospital amid concerns about high blood pressure and heart palpitations.

Weinstein is also facing sexual assault charges in Los Angeles, after he allegedly attacked five women from 2004 to 2013.

If convicted, he could face a sentence of 140 years. A hearing that could see him put on trial in LA has been set for next month.
