MARK WOOD appears to have proved he is ready to give England’s attack some much-needed firepower against South Africa this week.
The bowler produced a ferocious display in the nets yesterday as he went head to head with Jofra Archer in a bid to fill the spot vacated by the injured James Anderson for the third Test, which starts on Thursday in Port Elizabeth.
Unlike Archer, who is recovering from an elbow problem, Wood appeared to be at full speed. ‘Mark’s ready to come in and do a job,’ England assistant coach Paul Collingwood told the BBC. ‘He looks really good in the nets.’
