A FATHER fears he will miss out on work after being caught in the quarantine crackdown just after touching down for a holiday in Spain.
Building trade worker Tom Brady had only just arrived in Mazarron, Murcia, with his wife and two children when the quarantine was announced. Now they will have to self-isolate for two weeks on their return.
‘It’s going to have a big impact,’ he said. ‘Work has just started to pick up so I booked a load in to start as soon as I get back — now I’ve had to cancel all that and push the bookings back. Hopefully the customers will stay with me but there’s a good chance that they won’t, so we won’t make any money in the next month.’
Craig Cowgill, from Bury, fears he will lose out on pay as manager of a small business as he prepared to fly to the Canary Islands on Thursday. ‘I’m hoping Jet2 will offer a refund or the government change the quarantine,’ he said. Laura Martin, 27, an au pair who lives in London, flew into Heathrow from Madrid, where she was visiting family, but is now unable to return to work for 14 days.
