A MOTHER has accused a school of discrimination for keeping her son out of class because of his mohican.
Ethan Lewis, 12, has to study in isolation, supervised by his form teacher, after returning from the summer holidays to be told his haircut flouted rules.
But mum Romaine Coonghe said the pupil, who has learning difficulties, has had the style since was seven and was allowed it at school last year.
‘I feel this is discriminatory as Ethan has partly Afro-Caribbean style hair and partially European hair,’ said Ms Coonghe, of Cliffe, Kent.
She said he is uncomfortable at the barbers and his father Russell, who cuts his hair, trimmed it too short.
Strood Academy principal Kim Gunn said parents were warned by letter. ‘We have said no extreme haircuts,’ she added.
