PHILLIP SCHOFIELD was dubbed a ‘legend’ by Dancing On Ice co-stars as he made his first TV appearance since coming out as gay.
The 57-year-old revealed his sexuality in an interview on Friday with This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby, and the pair were back on ITV last night on the skating show.
One of the judges, Ashley Banjo, praised Schofield, saying: ‘Phil, you have always been an absolute legend but never, never, ever more so than this week, my friend.’
He went on: ‘We’ve got nothing but love and respect for you.’ Looking touched, Schofield replied: ‘It’s not about me,’ before they moved on with the contest.
The dad-of-two earlier told The Sun on Sunday he knew he was gay when he wed wife Stephanie Lowe, 55, 27 years ago, and called her ‘the kindest, sweetest soul I could have possibly met’. Ms Lowe has no plans to divorce Phil, a source said. She told The Sun his revelation had been ‘the most emotionally painful time in our marriage’.
