A WOMAN who was stabbed to death in the early hours of New Year’s Day has been named by police.
Mother-of-one Charlotte Huggins (pictured), 33, died from a single stab wound in a house in Camberwell, south London, at 4.50am.
A 34-year-old man who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder has been bailed while inquiries continue. It is believed he was arrested before Ms Huggins was pronounced dead.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: ‘Police continue to investigate following the fatal stabbing of a woman in Camberwell.
‘Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene at 04.50 hours. Next of kin have been informed.
‘A post-mortem examination took place on Tuesday at Greenwich Mortuary and gave cause of death as a single stab wound.
‘At this early stage, it is believed that the suspect was known to the victim.’
