DETECTIVES investigating the rape of two women in six days are keen to trace this man.

Police have released a CCTV image of a passenger boarding a late-night bus in Plaistow, east London, after the first attack on Monday July 1.

A 35-year-old woman was grabbed from behind and raped on a residential street in the Plaistow South area of Newham. Officers were called at 2.40am. The rapist also stole from her.

A second woman, aged 31, was raped on Saturday July 6 in Amethyst Road, Leyton, after a man approached her. The attack took place around 4.20am and she also had belongings stolen. The attacks, three miles apart, are being linked due to their similarities.

Det Supt Andrew Packer, said the Met has stepped up patrols and he warned women walking alone at night to be vigilant.

‘These incidents have been deeply traumatic for the victims, who are being supported by specialist officers,’ he said. ‘Please have a good look at this photo and let my officers know if you know who this man is.’
