A MAN was arrested last night after a woman was stabbed in the back in a London street.

Police had earlier issued an appeal to trace Peter Morley, 35, for questioning over yesterday morning’s attack, which left the victim with multiple stab wounds.

The woman was named locally as mother-of-five Krystal Boyd, 34, who is believed to be a former girlfriend of Mr Morley.

She was airlifted to hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening, Scotland Yard said.

Police cordon: Clothes at the scene

Emergency calls were made following the attack in Woolwich, south-east London, at around 9.30am.

The victim was treated by medical staff at the scene before being transferred to the air ambulance.

Forensic officers were seen at the scene as nearby roads were cordoned off and patrols were stepped up.

A friend of Ms Boyd told MailOnline: ‘Thankfully she is OK and talking.

‘She has five children, including an eight-month-old. She is a lovely woman.’

The Met Police last night said: ‘Peter Morley was arrested this evening on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody at a south London police station.’
