POISONED Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has posted an Instagram photo of himself sitting up in his hospital bed — and a message to say he is now able to breathe independently.
Surrounded by wife Yulia and their two children, he spoke out for the first time since the attempt on his life.
‘Hi, this is Navalny. I miss you all,’ he posted. ‘I still don’t know much about anything, but yesterday I could breathe all day on my own. No extra help, not even a valve in my throat.
‘I liked it very much. It’s a remarkable process that is underestimated by many. Strongly recommended.’
Mr Navalny, 44, was flown to Berlin for treatment at the Charité hospital two days after falling ill on a domestic flight in Russia on August 20. He came out of a coma last week.
Multiple tests have confirmed he was poisoned with novichok, a deadly nerve agent developed in the Soviet era.
His supporters believe tea he drank was laced with the toxin and have pointed the finger at the Kremlin.
Vladimir Putin’s Moscow regime has denied any involvement.
