BORIS JOHNSON was mocked during a hospital visit yesterday over his party’s manifesto pledge for 50,000 more nurses as part of a £725million spending spree.

One nurse at West Cornwall Hospital, in Penzance, said: ‘Do you have a nurses tree as well as a money tree?’

The PM was challenged while having a tea break with hospital staff. Another nurse asked him: ‘Where are these people going to come from?’ Mr Johnson replied: ‘I think we should make sure that people who have grown up in this country have a career in nursing.

‘We’ve also got to make sure we are open to people from around the world.’

■ A TV CLIP of an 86-year-old criticising the main party leaders has become an online hit. Molly Bennet, randomly approached by Sky News in Hampshire, said she wouldn’t vote for ‘red man’ Jeremy Corbyn or ‘buffoon’ Boris Johnson.
