Paul Mescal takes on big boys for an Emmy

NORMAL PEOPLE star Paul Mescal’s meteoric rise was cemented when he landed an Emmy nod last night.

The Irish actor, 24, is up against some Very Important People on the shortlist for outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie.

The nominees include Jeremy Irons for Watchmen, Hugh Jackman for Bad Education and Mark Ruffalo for I Know This Much Is True.

Brits Jodie Comer, 27, for Killing Eve and The Crown’s Olivia Colman, 46, vie for best lead actress in a TV drama, along with Comer’s co-star Sandra Oh and Jennifer Aniston of The Morning Show. Pose’s Billy Porter and Jeremy Strong from Succession go for the best lead actor in a drama series gong, while Cate Blanchett’s turn in Mrs. America has earned her a nomination as best lead actress in a limited series.

Ozark, Watchmen, Succession, Dead To Me and Killing Eve each received three nods. The virtual awards ceremony is in September.
