THE Duke and Duchess of Sussex showed off their newborn for the first time before revealing his name is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
The proud parents unveiled their ‘bundle of joy’, the first mixed-race royal baby of modern times, in the grand surroundings of St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle yesterday.
Meghan beamed as she told a select handful of media representatives: ‘It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy. He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm.’
Harry, 34, joked ‘I don’t know who he gets that from’ before his wife, 37, added: ‘He’s just been the dream, so it’s been a special couple of days.’
The infant — born overdue at 5.26am on Monday weighing 7lb 3oz — was oblivious to all the excitement about his arrival and appeared to be asleep throughout the photocall.
Harry briefly pulled back Archie’s shawl to show his face. But the baby’s head was covered with a hat so the world will have to wait to find out if he has inherited his dad’s ginger hair. The prince joked: ‘He’s already got a little bit of facial hair as well, wonderful.’
Asked how he found parenting so far, Harry said: ‘It’s great. It’s only been two-and-a-half days, three days, but we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy and be able to spend some precious times with him as he slowly, slowly starts to grow up.’
Harry will make a flying visit to the Netherlands today to promote next year’s Invictus Games — but no doubt the thrilled dad will want to hurry home to his wife and son as soon as possible.
