Officer hurt as police chase ends in smash

Arresting place: The 4x4 landed on the front wall of a home

THIS was the dramatic scene yesterday after a 4×4 being chased by police collided with a patrol car and somersaulted over a front garden wall.

The driver of the vehicle — a Land Rover Discovery — lost control shortly after 4am.

An officer inside the patrol car, which was not involved in the pursuit, suffered pelvic, leg, and shoulder injuries in the smash in Erdington, West Midlands.

A 37-year-old-man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. Last night, home owner Abu Nasar, 53, told of his shock after finding the 4×4 upside down in his front garden. He said: ‘I came home and saw the car flipped over on to its roof on my front wall. It’s only a few bricks — it could have been a lot worse if someone was in the house at the time.’
