Oddballs: Fun sporting stories to lighten the mood

Marathon effort in splendid isolation

WORRIED you can’t go for a run during a coronavirus lockdown? Many people will be left with limited or no space but you have to admire Elisha Nochomovitz’s ingenuity.

His Toulouse balcony may be only seven metres wide but Nochomovitz (pictured) ran a marathon distance on it in six hours and 48 minutes.

‘For me it was a bit about taking a crazy challenge and bringing a bit of drama to de-dramatise the confinement situation,’ he said.

Quite what the neighbours made of it we are not sure but we’re just grateful he didn’t hit the wall.

Benedict’s virtual Test Stokes some debate

SKY Sports statistician Benedict Bermange has been keeping himself busy during what would have been the first Test in Sri Lanka by simulating it for his Twitter followers.

The methodology was rather vague but England came out on top without entering the field as they notched up a seven-wicket win, Ben Stokes ‘hitting’ the winning runs.

Not everyone was impressed, though, as @CrickPotato tweeted: ‘No chance England won on foreign soil after losing the toss, rigged.’
