Everton 1-1 Newcastle
NEWCASTLE earned a good point at Goodison Park on the day former Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon was linked to a takeover of the club.
Kenyon is believed to be fronting a group wanting to buy the Magpies from current owner Mike Ashley, who put the club on the market 14 months ago.
While Ashley has revealed he is in talks with several interested parties — it is understood there are at least four, all based overseas — over a £300million sale, his team returned from Everton with a draw. Toon supporters, who have long wanted Ashley out, saw their side take the lead on 20 minutes when Jacob Murphy burst down the left and crossed for Salomon Rondon to sweep home at the far post.
But on 38 minutes, Newcastle failed to clear a corner from Gylfi Sigurdsson allowing Richarlison to pounce at the far post to equalise for Marco Silva’s men.
