A MILLIONAIRE jeweller shot dead by his jealous ex-lover on the Costa del Sol was unlawfully killed, an inquest has ruled five years after his death.
Bristol businessman Andrew Bush, 48, was shot once in the arm and twice in the head by bikini model Mayka Kukucova after he arrived at his villa in April 2014 with his 20-year-old new lover.
Slovakian Kukucova, then 26, was waiting in his bed and refused to leave. Mr Bush, known as Marbella’s Mr Bling, told his girlfriend, Russian-born student Maria Korotaeva, to go to the car and call police. He was then killed in an argument with his ex.
In 2016, Kukucova was jailed after being found guilty of Mr Bush’s murder by a Spanish court. She is serving 13 years in prison. Avon coroner’s court resumed the inquest into Mr Bush’s death because his family repatriated his body from Spain earlier this year. Before that he had been interred in a cemetery near where he died.
Recording a verdict of unlawful killing, coroner Dr Peter Harrowing said: ‘Miss Kukucova was waiting and unexpectedly made use of a firearm. Mr Bush did not have the possibility of reacting to defend himself.’
Kukucova’s trial was told she was ‘obsessed’ and had been in his house three days. Ms Korotaeva said: ‘We had so many plans for the future and now there’s nothing.’ Mr Bush also left behind an ex-wife, Samantha, and daughter, Ellie Mason Bush.
