A MOTHER and her three young daughters were last night being treated in hospital for serious stab wounds.
The woman, who was said to be in her 30s, and the girls — all aged under 12 — were in a stable condition following the ‘appalling’ knife attack at a property in Enfield, north London.
Police were called to the home just after midday on Saturday.
A neighbour said he was listening to the radio when he heard screaming.
He said: ‘I turned the radio off, then heard the screams, like three or four times within a few seconds.’
He went on: ‘The police were there very quickly. I saw a woman and a young girl on the ground. They looked in bad shape. I hope they are OK.’
He said the woman was European and she and her ‘lovely’ family moved to the address about a year ago.
Det Sgt Joe Stewart, of Enfield CID, said: ‘This was an appalling attack on a woman and her young children. They have sustained very serious injuries. Our thoughts are with them as they continue to receive vital treatment in hospital. There is no further risk to the public.’
A 44-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody at a north London police station.
