Miracle escape in gas blast at house

Ripped in half: The house in Bourne, Lincolnshire PICTURE: SWNS

A HOUSE was ripped in two by a gas explosion — but miraculously no one was seriously hurt.

Pictures showed the aftermath of the explosion that left only one half of the home standing yesterday.

Remarkably, police said one man escaped with minor injuries and there were no other casualties.

Lincolnshire Police tweeted the blast in Bourne was ‘believed to be a gas explosion’.

The force added: ‘A man has minor injuries and is a little shaken. There were no other injuries. The house has been severely damaged.’

Twitter users were quick to comment. One well-wisher wrote: ‘Awful but hopefully family is safe.’

Another tweeted: ‘So sad, especially just before Xmas. Glad to hear the occupants are OK.’

Andy Pearson added: ‘Like something out of a war zone hope everyone is safe.’ And Sarah Constantine said: ‘Wow that’s awful to see.’
