MIKEL ARTETA hailed Arsenal’s spirit after making it two wins from two, insisting goalscorer Nicolas Pepe is beginning to master the English game following yesterday’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win at Sheffield United.
After losing to Manchester City and Brighton, the Gunners have now beaten Southampton and progressed to a Wembley semi-final after securing a dramatic injury-time victory.
Boss Arteta (pictured) said: ‘Results dictate it a little bit but the spirit is much better than when we lost at Brighton. The attitude and commitment of every single player was really good.’
Arteta confirmed David Luiz had come off with an ankle injury and praised Pepe after the £72million signing netted from the penalty spot, his second goal since the season restart.
‘Something has clicked with him,’ Arteta added. ‘He is always smiling, always positive and a bit of a free spirit.’
