NICOLAS PEPE has been warned he needs to be more consistent after shining for Arsenal in their 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win against Sheffield United.
The 25-year-old (pictured) continued his fine form since football resumed with a penalty at Bramall Lane on Sunday, adding to his superb goal in the league defeat at Brighton. That has taken the 25-year-old’s tally to eight but manager Mikel Arteta still wants more from a striker who cost the Gunners £72million last summer.
‘It’s very important to understand a player, how hard it’s been to adapt to a new country and a language he doesn’t understand,’ said Arteta.
‘He is very willing and a player with incredible potential. He needs to take care of moments in the game when he disconnects himself a bit. I’ll be persistent with him to change that. He also needs to be decisive in every game – at his best he is a player who can make the difference.
‘He is doing things very well too, like realising what he needs to do for the team when we don’t have the ball. I am very pleased with him.’
