Mick Schumacher makes Ferrari debut in Bahrain F1 test

MICK SCHUMACHER made his Ferrari F1 Testing debut in a rain-affected Bahrain earlier today — 12 years after his dad’s last race for the same team.

The 20-year-old attended the Sakhir Circuit and posted a best lap of 1.32.552 which placed him eighth in the standings overall.

Today’s test was Schumacher’s first foray into F1, having only been signed to the Ferrari driver academy earlier this year. He will switch to the Alfa Romeo team for testing tomorrow.

The son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is curently the reigning European F3 champion and made his Formula 2 debut at the weekend, finishing eighth in Saturday’s feature race and sixth in Sunday’s sprint race, respectively.

Michael Schumacher, who turned 50 earlier this year, has not been seen in public since his 2013 skiing accident.

Secrecy, enforced at the request of his wife Corinna, is in place while he reportedly receives care at his home near Lake Geneva in Switzerland.
