Michael Gove looks on the bright side

MICHAEL GOVE played down talk of food shortages after Brexit as he sported a dazzling hi-viz jacket on a visit to Dover yesterday.

The minister, joined by cabinet newcomers Priti Patel and Grant Shapps, inspected preparations to cope with hold-ups a no-deal outcome would cause at the Channel port.

‘If we do leave without a deal there will inevitably be bumps in the road but it’s my job to make sure we’re as ready as possible for all contingencies,’ said Mr Gove, who has been put in charge of no-deal planning by prime minister Boris Johnson.

‘I’m confident that the UK has a very resilient food supply system, that people will have a wide range and all the choice they need.’
